Operating room rotation

Lucille Cain Hartman (left) with an unidentified nurse cleans an operating room table at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. NCBH School of Nursing students were required to do a three-month rotation through the various services of the hospital under the supervision of senior students during their three years of instruction. Hartman recalls that the operating room rotation was one of her most memorial experiences because an operating room scrub nurse had to keep an inventory of the number of sponges used making sure all of them were accounted for after the surgery.
