Hartman and Carter

North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing 1932 graduate Lucille Cain Hartman (front) posed for this portrait with Mary Carter, a 1933 graduate. After graduation, Hartman was a private duty nurse before serving in the US Army Nursing Corps during World War II. Hartman returned to Winston-Salem to be a nurse at NCBH and served in various administrative roles over the next several years. She also worked in the Department of Clinics for nine years before retiring.
