Bowman Gray, Jr.

Bowman Gray, Jr.

Bowman Gray, Jr. was born in 1907 to Bowman Gray, Sr. and Nathalie Lyons Gray. He grew up surrounded by the tobacco business and joined the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company full-time in 1930 as a retail salesman. He steadily moved up in the ranks, just like his father and uncle, Mr. James Gray, and was named president of the company in 1957. He married Elizabeth Christian of Richmond, Virginia and they had four sons. He was a strong financial supporter of education and was a trustee, board member, and director of many local businesses. He passed away in 1969.
