Bell 412 EMS Helicopter

The Bell 412 EMS was the new helicopter purchased in 1989 by North Carolina Baptist Hospital. It had the capability to seat up to 10 people, had a cruising speed of 125 mph, a flying range of 150 without having to refuel. Shown here from (L-R) Mike Travison, Co-pilot; Susan Butler, chief flight nurse; and James Aleshire, Pilot. Mike Travison later died in a 1994 AirCare crash, along with Pilot Tony Barbee and Nurses Lynn Canada and Donna Eaton. They were on a lifesaving mission when the helicopter crashed in Bluefield, W. Virginia, just minutes from the airport.
