Thurman D. Kitchin

In 1917 Dr. Thurman D. Kitchin was elected professor of physiology and pharmacology at the two-year School of Medicine, located then in Wake Forest, NC. He became the Dean of the College in 1919. Drs. Kitchin and Carpenter were key leaders in helping to establish and move the new four year medical school from Wake Forest to Winston-Salem. In 1930, Dr. Kitchin was elected president of the college and carried the dual administrative title until Dr. Carpenter became dean in 1936.
