Addressograph Graphotype

The unidentified people in this undated photograph are believed to be transcribing medical records on an Addressograph Graphotype machine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. The graphotype was basically a “dog tag” machine. The United States Military did not want to develop specialized equipment to imprint identification tags. The standard keyboard and space bar operated similar to a manual typewriter for quick production of embossing or debossing of metal tags or plastic cards.
