The Bowman Gray School of Medicine had 49 males to graduate in 1947. Shown here are some of the class members going up the steps of the First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for the commencement exercises on December 14, 1947. Starting with the gentleman in glasses and striped suit at the bottom of the steps and going up are: William Bland, marshal for the class of 1947. George Anderson, ?, Elbert Johnson, George Colom, Bill Hayes and Frank Hammett. (Starting behind William in the striped suit) are faculty members: Drs. Camillo Artom, Robert Morehead, Robert McMillan, James Donnelly, Frederick Taylor, Felda Hightower, ? and McDonald Fulton.
