Thermo-Fax

Shown here is a Thermo-Fax machine introduced in the 1950’s and used at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Thermo-Fax is a trademarked name for the first photo-copying machine made by 3M. It was a significant advancement in this era as no chemicals were required, other than what was contained in the copy paper. As copying technology advanced, Thermo-Fax machines were subsequently marketed as a method of producing transparencies for overhead projector presentations. The female in the photo has not been identified.
