Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Dr. Paul M. Ribisi (left) and Dr. Henry Shelton Miller, Jr. (right) started the first Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in North Carolina at the Human Performance Laboratory at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 1975. The rehabilitation program offers treatment for people recovering from heart attacks, heart surgery or other heart-related illnesses through such means as exercise, stress management and education on leading a healthier lifestyle. The doctors in this photo are testing an unidentified male cardiac patient on a treadmill.
