Charles Bedell Monro was my Uncle. His Brother George N. Monro III, my father, is, I believe also in this picture. He and my mother are shown just under the propeller. My mother, Margaret Monro is to the far right.

In the early 1960s, my family lived next door to the owners of the Flamingo Drive In. We went there quite a bit. The Flamingo was the first drive in theatre in the south to feature a "callback" system. This allowed you to speak with the concession stand through the theatre speaker at your car and order food items from your car. I remember seeing "A Hard Day's Night" at the Flamingo in 1964. Teenagers were sitting on top of their cars, screaming at the screen! I'll never forget it. The last movie I saw at the Flamingo before moving from the area was the James Bond thriller, "Goldfinger". I enjoyed the drive in so much that as an adult, I spent 25 managing movie theatres.

This is a picture of my Grandmother (Ethel Pfaff) before she was married. Her uncle Ernest Pfaff and the Sarah Norman I think she is some of my Grandfather (Abraham Norman) kin but I will have to do some research to find out. I haven't looked at all the pictures yet but I have enjoyed them so far. Max S. Norman Winston-Salem, NC

The player in this photo is not spiking the ball, she is bumping the ball. It is a shame that no photos of the WFU womens team that competed in Nationals in the fall of 1975 are posted.
