John Fries Blair

John Fries Blair

John Fries Blair was born in 1903 and died in 1986. After a successful career as an English professor at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Salem College, Blair went to work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was assistant director of the Institute of Government and a member of the editorial staff at the University of North Carolina Press. In 1954 he began his own publishing company in Winston-Salem. The first book he published was Whispering Pines by John Henry Boner, the noted poet from Salem. The John F. Blair publishing company continues to operate in Winston-Salem.
