Written around this photograph is, “DEC. 13 1937 THE CLEMMONS / STAGE COACH ENROUTE TO THE HALL OF / HISTORY. ED ANDERSON, DRIVER. B.J. PFOHL / WITH TRUMPET. / W.J. HALL ENTERING / COACH.” This stagecoach, named Hattie Butner, was purchased by Edwin T. Clemmons in 1872 for his stagecoach line based in the Clemmons area of Forsyth County. This photograph was taken during a “Romance of Transportation Pageant” that paraded the stagecoach from Old Salem to the Robert E. Lee Hotel in downtown Winston.
