Salem Industrial Complex

This house stood on Academy Street in Salem at Tar Branch, next to the tannery. The house on the left could be the Single Brothers’ sicklesmithy, which later became Loesch’s gunsmith shop. The two-story house was blacksmith shop built by Sensemann in 1808. The building was being used as a residence when this image was captured. Several unidentified individuals stand in the yard and on the porch of the house.
