  1. Great picture!!! However these are not cheerleaders. During this time the schools had cheerleaders but also another group of girls that wore letters spelling out the schools name or/and mascot. They were called “Letter Girls” Winston-Salem stopped using them in the late seventies. I think that East Forsyth was the last school that actually used Letter girls. In the past Anderson, Atkins, Carver and Paisley had Letter Girls as part of the marching band, I am unsure about the other schools.
