Beginning stages of a Huge Expansion

This photo shows the first phase of the expansion of both the Bowman Gray School of Medicine and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Construction began in 1968 with the completion of four buildings within the next two years. Finished first in 1968 was the power plant, next was the paramedical school classrooms that opened along with the Babcock Auditorium in 1969 and the hospital and clinics building that opened in 1970.
