Pandy the Porpoise

Pandy, a 273-pound female porpoise, was performing at the Benton Convention Center in 1973 when she became ill. She was transported to North Carolina Baptist Hospital and seen by Dr. James McCormick (not pictured) who was familiar with porpoises because of a grant he had received from the Navy years earlier involving marine biology studies. Pandy was treated, healed, and able to return back to her owner (the man with his hand on the porpoise), Mr. Ralph Quinlan of Lincolnton, NC via a box filled with moist sponge rubber and a wet blanket.
