Davis Memorial Chapel Cornerstone Items

The Davis Memorial Chapel began construction in August 1954 and was finished with the cornerstone being laid in September 1955. It was built through funds given entirely by the Atlas Supply company and is in memory of the late Mrs. Annie Pearl Shore Davis and in honor of Egbert L. Davis, Sr. Items sealed in the copper canister and placed in the cornerstone before are as follows: Mrs. Davis’ Bible that was presented to her on her 21st birthday in 1905; a history of Wake Forest College and Bowman Gray School of Medicine and a list of their directors; a history of Baptist Hospital and a list of its directors; a history of the Atlas Supply Company and a list of its officers’ photographs; and brief biographies of Mrs. Annie Pearl Shore Davis and Mr. Davis and a group of photographs of their children. The chapel doors are never closed even to this day in 2008.
