Graduation traditions

Six unidentified members of the Class of 1968 School of Nursing pick up their new bands for their caps. School of Nursing graduates celebrated with a breakfast given by the staff; a formal tea sponsored by the Alumni Association and a reception after the graduation ceremony sponsored by the Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. A nurse’s cap was unique to each school. The color and width of the band as well as the design of the cap varied from school to school. At North Carolina Baptist Hospital, the graduates received a broader black velvet band to replace their narrower black band.
