Steeple catches fire

Lightning set fire to North Carolina Baptist Hospital’s Davis Memorial Chapel steeple during a severe thunderstorm on August 29, 1959. Heavy rainfall knocked out all of the outside telephone lines of the Hospital when it flooded a nearby underground cable. Firefighters are shown here extinguishing the blaze.
