Dr. Julius Howell

Dr. Julius Howell joined the staff at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in early 1957 as head of the new Plastic Surgery Department. He had the department set up and running in time for it play an important part in the care of some of the patients who were badly burned in the Flat Rock school fire disaster on February 2, 1957. A plastic surgery out-patient clinic was opened in 1958. Dr. Julius Howell was the twin brother of Dr. Charles Howell who was also on faculty at the hospital as a dermatologist.

  1. Worked for Dr.Howell during the time Mabel Holton
was out on sick leave — about 6 months. Nice
place to work. Dr. Charles Howell came in one
day and I was confused since he was wearing different clothes. Did not know about the twin
    factor at that time.

  2. Dr Howell was my surgeon for years. Great man! I need help again now so who took his place??? Thank you!
