Winston Graded School, later called West End School, on West Fourth Street at Broad Street. The school was built in 1884 and demolished in 1948.

  1. Just wondering about to 10 or eleven children in front that appear to be in wheelchairs. Are they really wheel chairs? Was there some specific local illness that caused them to be in wheelchairs? Tough job getting them up the steps…Great old school though. I saw the drawings for an addition in the 1920’s or so at the State Archives.
