Groundbreaking for Nutrition Center

Ground was broken April 4, 1992 for the Center for Research on Human Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Site preparation for the main building, next to the Hanes Research Building, of the Nutrition Center began on September 28, 1992. Due to funding problems, only the outside shell of the building was completed by 1996, leaving the interior of the building vacant. The Nutrition Center was slowly worked on floor by floor as the Medical Center received funding. The first completed floor of the Nutrition Center opened in September 1998.
