'WACHOVIA MUSEUM / 1939 / MRS. BECK.'

The Salem Boys’ School on the corner of Academy and Main streets was used as a museum building by the Wachovia Historical Society beginning in 1897. The society stored and displayed its flourishing collection of artifacts, including items gathered by Moravian missionaries in their global travels. Old Salem restored the building in the 1950s and became the steward of the society’s rich collection.
