  3. My family use to have a drug store in Winston Salem. My father would come home from a business trip with pastries we always called Winston Salem’s. I never knew where they were from. Then I discovered Dewey’s a few years ago but never coudl put the connection of the past to this bakery. Then I saw a photo of Patterson’s Drug Store next to Dewey’s Bakery. It was a photo in a restaurant near Wake Forest. I found the photo on your web site. How can I get a copy that I can frame?

  4. My grandparents lived on Elizabeth Ave. and we always visited them on Sundays. I remember one Sun. afternoon our Aunt Alice invited me to go to the Moravian service at Christmas time and I remember how special it was to get the Moravian coffee and buns. I was probably around 11 years old. It was a wonderful experience for me.

  5. On the photo of the Shell gasoline station at
    Reynolda Road and NW Blvd., this was also the main offices of Quality Oil Company, the distributor for Shell products. Mr. Joe Glenn was the Owner/President. Shell,”Esso” (now Exxon) and Gulf were the big distributors in W-S for years. My Dad was a personal friend of Mr. Glenn and my wife was the Office Manager at Wachovia Oil, the Gulf distributor, in the late 40’s and early 50’s. This did bring back memories. Thanks.

  7. I was born in Bethania, my family still owns property along Bethabara Rd, that was acquired in 1822 and the Matriarch of my family is 105 yrs old. I am a direct decendant of the Kisers, Doubs and Washingtons.

  8. I aM TRYING TO FIND RECORDS OF WILLARD EINO HILDULA FROM A TB HOSPITAL IN SALEM IT WAS IN THE 1940’S. HE WASBETWEEN 9-10 YEARS OLD AND WS THERE FOR 2YEARS.HAS NO RECALL NAME OF HOSPITAL OR DOCTORS HE RECALLS BEING IN PAVILLON C HIS FATHERS NAME WAS EINO HILDULA AND THAT IS HOW HE GOT TO GO THERE.YEARS LATER HE CHANGED HIS NAME TO HIS STEP FATHER TOM CONLEY. WOULD ANY INFORMATION YOU MIGHT FIND WOULD BE APPRECIATED I AM HIS WIFE AND WOULD LIKE TO FILL IN SOME BLANKSNIN HIS HISTORY. THANK YOU SINCERLY ALMA CONLEY

  9. MY HUSBAND WILARD EONO HILDULA CONLEY WAS IN AN OREGON TB SANITARIUM IN THE 1940’S WHEN HE WAS A CHILD IT WAS IN SALEM,OREGON HE DOESN’T REMEMBER

  10. I remember when the Central Library was located on the corner of Third & Cherry streets just across from First Prez. Church. The Library was very small and the children’s was down stairs. I had relatives who lived on N. Cherry st near 2nd and we used to walk up the st. and check out books. I remember there was an elderly lady who worked at the main desk up stairs. Later the bldg. housed a Catholic which is still there today. Across third st. South was the Francis Hotel which has since been replaced by a commercial bldg.

  11. Have not seen any photos of Parkway Plaza, but I use to play baseball and football where it stands today.

  14. I am a graduate of the class 1943, a vet of W11 & Korean Police affair of 1950. Anyone left from that class 1943? I found a few but they were gone from this world.

  15. Hello, my father grew up at 1110 West End Blvd., Winston-Salem and he will turning 83 years old this Sunday, 9.11.16. I am attempting to find old photographs of either that historical district or of Lehman Hall at Old Salem. Would this be possible? Thank you.

  18. There is a picture of two men hanging tobacco in a “pole barn .
    The picture was taken in 1939 . The man in the top position looks very much like my father and the time frame seems to be in line with my father’s age
    Do you have any information on who and where this is ?

  20. I was born 1938 when my parents lived at 113 Chestnut Street in one Reynold’s row houses for employees. Have anyone ever heard of these houses?

My Father Hugh Kinyoun ran the ferris wheel at Reynolds Park painted the pool during the winter and my two uncles perry and Phillip Kinyoun ran the roller coaster and jet ride…this was during the beginning of the 60s …I have many pictures of the park during this time also a couple of news paper articles with pictures of my Dad about Reynolds Park…not sure if anyone would like to have this information for Forsyth County History…

  22. Had anyone ever heard of Reynolds Row Houses? My parents lived at 113 S. Chestnut St in 1938 the year I was born. He lived with his Mother Martha (Mattie) B Fulp and Mildred Fulp and Viola Fulp,my Mother, at this address and always called it the Reynolds Row House.

  23. I have an old dining room antique piece of furniture l got from grandparents that came from your store in 1800 hundreds or 1900 hundreds. I needed info but don’t know name of it. Could be server. It has small mirror and small drawers.
